Update to IBM Connections 4.0 CR3 (iFix LO74465)

An update for the common application for CR3 for Connections 4.0 has been released – it fixes an issue when accessing this version with Lotus Notes 9 Social Edition.

Obviously, IBM informed all customers who have already downloaded CR3 about the update.

 

Our Fix Central records indicate that the ID associated with this email address downloaded IBM Connections 4.0 Cumulative Refresh 3 (CR3).  IBM support has found an issue that may affect Notes 9 Social Edition clients accessing IBM Connections 4.0 environments with CR3 applied. iFix LO74465 was added to the 4.0 CR3 package to address this issue and is now available from Fix Central. If you have Notes 9 Social Edition clients that will access your IBM Connections 4.0 CR3 environment, please use this link to download the iFix:

If you have already applied 4.0 CR3, please use the update installer to apply LO74465.

IBM Connections: Thumbnails in Media Gallery

When uploading pictures to a media gallery in Lotus IBM Connections 3.0.1, an event is triggered to generate a thumbnail for the uploaded image. This process may not run, if it is triggered to run on behalf of a user which does not exist in IBM Connections – i.e. the user does not have a profile in the profileDB.

In most installations this user is the initial Connections administrator user and does not have a profile, so you may need to use the following workaround (which is also described in the IBM Connections Forum) to make thumbnails working instead of seeing “Preview currently not available” :

Quickr Connector 8.5: Is there any reason…

…why IBM changed the Quickr Connector icon in version 8.5?

 

Well ok, it’s only a little thing and it’s not that bad, but I really liked IBM’s strategy to standardize Lotus product icons.

I wonder why IBM started to have similar icons for Notes, Sametime, Connections and Quickr and now they break their own concept.

…I can already hear the users claiming that they cannot find their Quickr connector anymore :-(

I want the bubble back!!! ;-)
