BES 5.0 “Filed Messages” Bug

There’s a new bug in Blackberry Enterprise Server 5.0 for IBM Lotus Domino with filed messages coming back to the inbox.

A BlackBerry smartphone user files email messages into folders using their BlackBerry smartphone. After wireless reconciliation occurs, these email messages are moved back into the inbox.

RIM describes it in its Blackberry Technical Solution Center and currently there is no known workaround.

According to networkworld.com, this bug occurs in BES 5.0 MR3, but I cannot find any hint in RIM’s Technical Solution Center about that.

Here you can download an updated device.xml for Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) which includes the definitions for new Blackberry devices such as Blackberry Pearl 8120 or Blackberry Curve 8900.

This device.xml is required if you want to push software to these Blackberrys through your BES.

Don´t ask your carrier for an updated one, the support of my carrier did not even know that these devices are already sold, although they are selling these devices by themselves.

Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) 4.1.6 is now certified to run on Domino 8.0.2

Althought, using BES 4.1.6 on Domino 8.0.2 is officially supported, there are two issues you should keep in mind:

  • Problems when using the feature “Process cancelled meetings automatically”
  • Using Out-of-Office as service does not synchronize properly to or from the Blackberry device.
