Although, I am working with all the IT stuff (mainly with Lotus/IBM products, but also with many other things) since many years now, I have a kind of Aha! Effect almost every day when discovering new features or learning new things. Some are so simple that I should be ashamed of not knowing them, some are not that simple but really helpful or interesting.

If you use the activities sidebar plugin for Lotus Notes to access your activities on a Lotus Connections server, you may encounter the following error when trying to open any element from your activities:

IBM Lotus Notes / Domino 8.5.1 Fix Pack 1 is now available for download.
Beside a long list of bug fixes Notes 8.5.1 FP 1 finally (and officially) supports Windows 7, Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.2), and RHEL 5.4. Hopefully other IBM products like Quickr Connector will follow to support Windows 7 soon.

Notes/Domino 8.0.2 Fix Pack 4 available

Notes/Domino 8.0.2 Fix Pack 4 is now in stage 6 and available at IBM Password Advantage, but not yet downloadable from IBM Fix Central.
There are a lot of fixes included in this Fix Pack, but unfortunately no official Windows 7 support so far (Lotus Notes/Domino 8.0.2 Fix Pack 4 Release Notice), but I am looking forward to Lotus Notes 8.5.1 FP 1, it´s already in stage 4 and should be certified for Windows 7.

As promised, IBM Lotus Sametime 8.5 with many improvements and fundamental changes of the underlying technology has been released today and is downloadable from IBM Passport Advantage and IBM Partnerworld.
Detailed system requirements are described here and IBM Lotus Sametime 8.5 Information Center is also already online. If you look at the Sametime 8.5 server architecture, you’ll get an impression, how much fun it will be to install the Sametime 8.5 environment.

IBM announced the electronic software delivery for IBM Lotus Sametime 8.5 for December 22, 2009 (christmas surprise?) in the announcement letter “IBM Lotus Sametime Entry and Standard 8.5 make unified communications simple and effective“.
Beside major changes in the underlying technology (Websphere, Websphere, not Domino, Websphere, DB2 and erm, yes, Websphere) Sametime 8.5 will contain many significant changes like
