Lotus Connections / Activities sidebar plugin and username issues
If you use the activities sidebar plugin for Lotus Notes to access your activities on a Lotus Connections server, you may encounter the following error when trying to open any element from your activities:
“TaskHandler:openActivity:New Sharedtool” has encountered a problem.
It took me a lot of time to find out why this error occurs and the solution is pretty simple.
It seems that the activities sidebar plugin in conjunction with Connections 2.5 (I havn’t a clue if this also happens with Connections 2.0) has problems with usernames containing a space. Since I am used to use “Dennis Ruddigkeit” to log in to Sametime, Quickr and Connections I used this name for the activities sidebar (connections) configuration as well and ran into the error above.
So if you get the described error, use your email address or shortname to access your activities.
