Although, it is not an official public holiday (I wish it would be), don’t forget today’s System Administrator Appreciation Day.
The holiday exists to show appreciation for the work of sysadmins and other IT workers. It is celebrated on the last Friday in July. The first System Administrator Appreciation Day was celebrated on July 28, 2000.
System Administrators normally work in the background and keep the systems running – you only notice and need them, if there is an outage which prevents you from continuing your daily work. Most of the time they are doing a hard job without getting appreciation from users.
So use the chance and thank your System Administrator(s) and if you are satisfied with his/her work do not hesitate to show your appreciation with some chocolate, cake or other small presents.
